A Harrisburg political watchdog group is out with its latest Top Ten List of retired politicians who collect lavish pensions – and a former local senator remains among them.
Data released this week from Rock the Capital, a non-profit voter education organization, shows those 10 former politicians alone cost Pennsylvania taxpayers more than $1.3-million a year.
Former Philadelphia Representative Frank Oliver tops the list with a $286,000 pension. Former Luzerne County Senator Raphael Musto comes in second at $127,000. And former Northumberland County Representative Merle Philips is on the list with a $120,000 annual pension.
Former Blair County Senator Robert Jubelirer ranks fifth on the list with an annual pension of $90,000. According to the United States Census Bureau, the current median household income in Pennsylvania is $51,651.
