Altoona Police and the Blair County District Attorney’s office continue to investigate the shooting death of a Washington, D.C. man inside a city home early Saturday morning.
The Blair County Coroner’s Office says 37-year-old Stephen Hackney died after being shot in the chest. The murder happened around 1:00AM at a home on the 100 Block of Walnut Avenue – just a short distance from UPMC Altoona.
City police say Hackney had been living in the home with a woman. Police say she was not home at the time Hackney was killed. This isn’t Hackney’s first brush with the law in Altoona. He was charged in connection with a 2006 shooting incident that left one person injured and a city school on lockdown.
Hackney served several months in prison. Police investigators have not said if they have any suspects. Anyone with information on Hackney’s murder is urged to contact Altoona Police.
