City fire crews returned early this morning to the scene of a Tuesday afternoon fire that damaged an Altoona apartment building.
Originally, crews were called to 2720 Broad Avenue around 12:30PM – they found flames shooting from the front of 3rd floor unit. Assistant Chief Steve Michaelone says a water authority employee noticed the flames and worked quickly to make sure everyone got out.
Michaelone says fire crews quickly knocked down the blaze and contained the damage to one apartment. Most of the building was already vacant because it recently was sold to a new owner.
A little after 3:00 this morning crews again responded to the scene and it’s not clear at this time if the fire rekindled or someone set a fire in the condemned building.
We’ll have more on this story as information becomes available.
