The man suspected of robbing a Tyrone candy store on Tuesday was facing financial woes – and he was in the process of being evicted from his apartment.
Court Documents show 28-year-old Christopher McCune was already due in court yesterday to face eviction proceedings that were filed by his landlord. McCune is also facing a hearing for writing bad checks. Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller has continued both hearings.
According to Tyrone Police, McCune allegedly walked into Gardners Candies on 10th Street, purchased a soda and then robbed the business when the clerk returned his change. Police say he brandished a knife during the incident.
Video surveillance shows McCune, his wife and their small child at several borough businesses shortly before the robbery – and they used that video to match McCune to eyewitness descriptions of him. McCune remains in the Blair County Prison on $8,000 bail.
