PA State University Chancellor Says Job Lured Him

The incoming chancellor of Pennsylvania's state university system says he was preparing to look for a new job when the opening cropped up.
Frank Brogan said Wednesday he was entering the final year of his five-year contract as chancellor of the State University System of Florida and facing an automatic cutoff from the Florida state retirement system when that contract ran out.
In a conference call with reporters, Brogan said he likes the prospect of remaining a chancellor in Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education, even though it means a pay cut, and the opportunity for his family to live in another part of the country.
The 59-year-old Brogan spent most of his career in education, but served lieutenant governor to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush from 1999 to 2003.
