Altoona Revamps Fire Code Ordinance

Altoona City Council has approved an update to their fire code ordinance – but officials say the changes won’t affect most residents.
City fire Chief Tim Hileman says most of the changes come on the enforcement and prevention side of the law.
Hileman says the changes fall in line with the 2012 Edition of the International Fire Code, which the city’s fire inspector has already received formal training. Hileman says the building and construction codes that the city’s property inspectors’ use mirrors the department’s new ordinance.
