Operation Our Town Awards $50,000 to 12 Agencies

Some local agencies who work to prevent drugs and alcohol abuse in the community have received a financial boost from Operation Our Town.
The agency announced $50,000 in grants to 12 agencies during a news conference on Thursday. Officials say the programs receiving the funding provide educational opportunities and after school activities to keep local children on a straight path.
The agencies work directly with the children and warn them of the dangers of using illegal drugs and other substances. Operation Our Town also provides annual funds to local police agencies who buy the necessary equipment that’s needed to rid the community of illegal narcotics.
