Senator Bob Casey Says He Has 'No Doubt' on Assad's Guilt in Syria
U.S. Senator Bob Casey says he has no doubt that Syrian President Bashar Assad's government carried out a chemical weapons attack last week and that it's in the nation's security interest to respond.
In a statement Monday, Casey cites an intelligence briefing he received earlier in the day, as well as public remarks by President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry. Casey didn't say in the statement what he believes the United States' response should be.
But Casey has previously called for action in Syria to unseat Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, notably in June after a chemical weapons attack against opposition forces.
Obama says he hasn't made a final decision about a military strike against Syria. But he says he's considering a limited and narrow action.
