The Altoona Curve ended the 2013 campaign on Monday with an extra inning loss to the Akron Aeros.
The 4-2 defeat in eleven innings at Peoples Natural Gas Field came in front of a crowd of 4,095.
Pittsburgh Pirate ace reliever Jason Grilli pitched a scoreless inning for the Curve as he continues his rehab stint in the minors.
One bright spot for the Curve this year was outfielder Alex Dickerson who was selected as the 2013 Eastern League Rookie of the Year. The award caps a stellar debut season for the Curve outfielder that saw him garner two league Player of the Week awards, a league Player of the Month award, and a post-season All-Star selection for the second time in his three-year career.
It’s the second time in franchise history that a Curve player has been selected to receive the award. Curve outfielder Starling Marte was selected as the league's Rookie of the Year in 2011.
