An off duty Altoona Police officer has been charged with felony assault following an incident at a Kid Rock concert near Pittsburgh over the weekend.
A Washington County Prison spokesperson tells WRTA News that 27 year old Matt Plummer posted $5,000 bail and was released from custody Sunday morning. Sources say Plummer was attending the Saturday night concert at First Niagara Pavilion with several other local police officers when the alleged incident occurred. Details about his arrest have not been released – and calls to the Hanover Township Police Department were not returned.
Plummer is connected to another high-profile assault incident involving Altoona Police officers. It was at his post-wedding reception party at Pelligrine’s Lounge in May 2010 that two city Police officers were involved in a brawl in a bathroom. They were charged and convicted of assaulting two men in that fight and a total of four city police officers lost their jobs as a result of the incident.
