Beaver Stadium Attendance Slipping

It happened again this weekend – thousands of seats stayed empty at Beaver Stadium.
Penn State says 92,855 people attended Saturday’s game – about 800 fewer than the second home game last year. It was also the stadium’s first White Out of the season. The university says Beaver Stadium’s capacity is about 106,000.
Data shows that attendance at Penn State Football games has been steadily declining since 2007. Many blame the NCAA sanctions coupled with the implementation of the STEP program – which determines seat selection based on donations to the Nittany Lion Club.

Penn State has been creating ticket packages and bundling deals in an effort to increase attendance. Five home games remain for the 2013 football season.
