Altoona Man Charged with Leaving Toddler in Vehicle
An Altoona man has been charged with leaving toddler in his car while he went shopping.
It happened September 1st at the Plank Road Commons. According to Allegheny Township Police, 28-year-old Warren Baxter of Maple Avenue went shopping for 23 minutes while his 17-month-old daughter was left in the unlocked vehicle.
A concerned citizen called police, who found the child sleeping and still buckled in a car seat. Police say the child was sweating and red in the face due to temperatures pushing 80-degrees. Only one window was cracked open.
The child was taken to UPMC Altoona for evaluation. Baxter is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He’ll face a preliminary hearing at a later date.
