Court Upholds Ex-PA Representative Brett Feese's Conviction

A state court has upheld the conviction of former state Representative Brett Feese of Lycoming County.

In a 2-1 decision on Feese's appeal, a Superior Court panel has rejected his argument that state prosecutors engaged in misconduct and deprived him of a fair trial by destroying notes from their interviews with witnesses. The majority said the attorney general's office followed policy in destroying the notes and that any conclusion about how the information might have affected Feese's fate is speculative.

Feese, a former head of the House Republican Campaign Committee, was convicted of 40 counts involving the misuse of millions of taxpayer dollars by hiring consultants and using state employees to develop custom software to help elect more GOP legislative candidates.

He's serving a prison term of four to 12 years.
