Emergency Responder Training Event Set For Saturday in East Freedom

About 85 emergency responders and municipal leaders are signed up for a training event on Saturday in East Freedom.
Coordingating the event is the national organization called Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response, comprised of volunteers who travel across the country to help communities prepare for an emergency involving the transportation of hazardous materials.
At the Freedom Township Firehall responders will be notified of a train and vehicle crashing on Route 36 in McKee, causing the train to derail. That will be followed by a report of a chemical spill from the accident site which will require closing Route 36 and an effort to keep it out of Halter Creek.
The simulated events should be over by noon.
