PA House GOP Picks Veteran to Lead Transportation Panel
Pennsylvania House Republicans are turning to an 18-term lawmaker from the Philadelphia suburbs to lead the Transportation Committee.
Speaker Sam Smith on Thursday named Delaware County Representative Nicholas Micozzie to the job that opened up earlier this month with the death of Bedford County Representative Dick Hess.
Bradford County Representative Tina Pickett takes over as chair of the Insurance Committee that Micozzie had previously led. The newest chair is Representative Maureen Gingrich of Lebanon County, now running meetings of the Gaming Oversight Committee.
Hess died September 6th complications that arose after leg surgery. House Majority Leader Mike Turzai said this week he hoped to have a floor vote on a Senate-passed proposal to raise taxes and fees for highways, bridges and mass transit.
