Blair Sheriff's Department to Close Friday for Move
If you need to renew your gun permit – you won’t be able to this Friday at the Blair County Courthouse.
That’s because the Sheriff’s Department will be closed to the public so workers can move into their new office space. The department will leave its cramped headquarters in the basement of the old section of the courthouse for the first-floor space formerly occupied by the Treasurer’s Office.
The office will reopen to normal operation on Monday. County leader’s say having the Sheriff’s Department on the first-floor will make the building more secure – and officers will be able to responds to incidents faster.
The Blair County Planning Department – which is currently located in the basement of the former Valley View Nursing Home – will move into the sheriff’s department once the space has been renovated.
