A civil trial in Blair County Court has been canceled because of lack of jurors.
John Bankert v. Consolidated Rail Corp./ Norfolk Southern Railway Inc., was scheduled to start Tuesday but of 250 potential jurors called, only 42 responded with many having a connection to the parties involved.
Jury selection for the trial will probably be tried once again in November or December.
Filling jury panels isn’t a new problem in Blair County. In January 2009 there were over 100 no-shows on a jury selection day.
Judges have the ability to levy $500 fines and 10 days in jail for anyone ignoring a jury selection summons for a second time.
