Logan Officials: Nittany Point Residents 'Out of Control'
The Logan Township Supervisors say they are fed-up dealing with the residents of an out-of-control student housing complex.
Township police responded to Nittany Point two weeks ago for another riot situation. More than a dozen students found themselves in handcuffs after throwing beer bottles and other objects at officers trying to control the intoxicated crowd.
Board members lay most of the blame on the landlord for not controlling and dismissing the students who are causing the problems. Township Solicitor Larry Clapper says he’s working with the board to find a way to hold the owner of the complex financially responsible for their resident’s actions.
Supervisor Ed Frontino says Penn State Altoona also needs to resume holding mandatory meetings with students at the beginning of the semester to cover the rules and regulations. He and board member Jim Patterson plan to meet with campus officials to further discuss the problem.
