Blair County Connections Networking Day Event To Take Place Today
Blair County Connections Networking Day is scheduled to take place today.
The event is intended to provide the public and human services professionals with an opportunity to network and learn about area services that support wellness and recovery including education, transportation, exercise, mental health and drug and alcohol services, etc., for children, adults, active and retired military service personnel, and families.
Networking Day will be held at the Jaffa Shrine and there is no fee and no registration is needed.
UPMC Altoona, Blair County Department of Social Services, Blair Drug & Alcohol Partnerships, Blair Health Choices, and Home Nursing Agency will all be participating.
10:30-12:30 p.m. — Schedule of speakers for the in-service program
9 a.m. — Networking and “tour” of agencies’ tables
10:30 a.m. —Drop Inn with presenter Bill Dunn of Home Nursing Agency
11a.m. — “Behavioral & Support Services at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center,” by John Grove of the VA Medical Center
11:45 a.m. — Fair Housing Rules & Regulations by Kelly Valdez, a representative from Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Services
A continental breakfast is provided.
“This is the third annual Networking Day but one significant change organizers have made this year is to open it to the public,” Zernick said. “Not only is it important for providers to know what services are available in the county, it’s important for the public to be aware of various services, from child care, occupational, vocational and rehabilitation services, to the different types of colleges offering education in the county, and even that ambulance services provide non-emergency transportation to doctor’s appointments
