APD Officer Gets Break In Assault Case



An Altoona Police officer involved in a scuffle following a concert in September has the felony assault charge against him dropped.
 
27 year old Matthew Plummer is now facing lesser charges and will plead guilty to disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor.
 
Plummer had faced a felony aggravated assault charge in connection to the September 7th altercation in the parking lot of the First Niagara Pavilion, just outside Burgettstown in Washington County. Plummer is accused of sending a man to the hospital with one punch.
 
A deal was worked out at Plummer’s preliminary hearing Thursday. He’s due in Washington County Court on December 6th to plead guilty to the misdemeanor charge.
 
An internal investigation by the Altoona Police Department continues.
